Cloud accounts are coming to the Elon Smart Water app. They are not live yet, but here is what they will mean for the two groups who use the app most: homeowners with an Elon Smart thermostat, and the installers who look after those systems.

Nothing changes today. Everything below is what to expect before launch.

For homeowners

Cloud accounts let you formally claim ownership of your thermostat. Once accounts open, we link your Elon Smart thermostat to your account, so its status and history stay with you.

That unlocks two things. Remote monitoring lets you check your hot water and see how your system is performing from the app, wherever you are. Household access lets you decide who in your home can view and manage the thermostat, and you can add or remove people at any time.

For now, there is nothing to do. Accounts are not open yet. When they go live, we will notify you in the app with clear steps to claim your thermostat. Until then, keep using the app as you do today. Claiming is a one-time step, and the app will walk you through it.

For installers

If you access client systems through the Elon Smart Water app, cloud accounts change how that access works, and when the feature rolls out you will need a registered installer account to keep monitoring the systems you look after.

Registration is open now.

Set up your account before launch, and your access to client systems carries over on day one, with no interruption to the work you already do. There is no need to set your clients up again.

A registered account also accredits you as a recognised installer in the app. It confirms who you are before you connect. Nothing you already manage goes away; your clients keep their service, and you keep a direct line to every system in your care.

It takes a few minutes, and doing it early means no scramble when accounts go live.
